Oil, enamel, and brick on panel

18" x 24" x 1/2 in

2017

I made a bunch of photographs on Fujifilm in which I choreographed my friends' parents to splash around on their fun noodles and inner tubes to make interesting wave patterns. When I started the painting, I realized that I was completely disinterested in painting the people, but they were in the middle of the composition. I got frustrated and put it in the naughty corner to think about what it did.

Months later, I got irritated with a bunch of paintings, and I poured enamel paint on this one and then dumped a pile of brick dust all over it so it stuck like glitter. It looked much better afterwards. Sometimes the best solution is a tantrum.
