Extra Grand Staircase, SS United States

This is a collage-based painting of the grand staircase of the SS United States after the fixtures and some of the aluminum coverings of the railings were removed for salvage. The title is a little inside joke for the ship nerds, since in an attempt to restore the grandeur of the space, I doubled the width of the staircase, making it and "extra grand staircase." The tungsten lights gave the yellow primered walls an uncanny glow.
