This is the transitional point from the covered promenade to the open-air passageway on an upper deck of the SS United States port stern. From looking at ship schematics, I think it may have been a crew area, but am uncertain. It was a rare treat to see the interior of a form that I'd examined from the exterior of the ship and to see how the graceful curves frame the sky. The colors and shapes were mesmerising. 
 
As sad as it is that this ship is going to be sunk as an artificial reef and people will no longer walk her decks, I love the idea of scuba divers following colorful fish through these passageways.
