"A Day at the Beach" by Chuck Shwarama

I started this piece in undergrad at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and just kept revising it. My husband said it reminded him kinda of that one painting... what's it called? "A Day at the Beach" by Chuck Shwarama? 
 
He meant "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte" by George Seurat, and we both knew it. Art history jokes!
 
The piece is actually related to the plein air watercolors I made of kayaks on Lake Belle Taine in Minnesota. 
 
The golden painted border continues around the edges of the panel, which are painted the same color. This adds a glowing quality, as well as a faux frame.
