Stoneware with slip trailing, oxides, underglazes, and glazes. There are 3 screw holes in one of the walls of the sculpture so it can be mounted to a wall or displayed on a table. 
 
These are several views of a ceramic diorama I made to give more context to my paintings of the SS United States. Now you can see what is on the other side of those portholes! I used photo references from the James Rindfleisch collection published in Stanton Daywalt’s excellent book “SS United States: An Operational Guide to America’s Flagship.” I used artistic license in using a different paint color than customary for that bedding pattern, but much of the ship is covered in yellow paint, so maybe I can get a pass.
