A Canadian Standoff is when everyone is too polite and keeps saying, “You go ahead.” “No, I insist! You go ahead.”…and then no one ever moves. This is part of the “Flotilla” series of paintings, inspired by the playful forms of kayaks, paddle boards, and paddle boats in Lake Belle Taine, Minnesota. Over time, I played with degrees of abstraction in the elements of boats and water.
