mid-fire ceramic low-relief wall art

This side view of a ship has slots in the back so it can hang on screws or lay flat on a table. The complex textures are designed to be touched with the intention of making the art more accessible to visually impaired people. It provides the opportunity to engage with the work in more ways.

The textures were created through carving and handbuilding, then piping thin clay known as slip into the fine details of rivets and portholes. Further surface decoration includes underglazes, oxides, and several varieties of layered, hand-painted glazes.
