Moshulu of Sorts
16" x 16" abstract geometric oil painting on panel by Brooke Lanier
This original painting is part of a series inspired by the Moshulu, a ship at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia. In this version, rather than render every ripple of water as in previous paintings, I chose to emphasize the strong angles and colors of the composition. The paint's texture was achieved by applying multiple layers, then scraping through them like weathered paint on a ship's hull.
