Saturday, April 13th from 4-8 pm
820 S. 4th Street, Philadelphia, PA
5 years ago, Brooke Lanier Fine Art moved from Camac Street to her storefront studio on Fabric Row in South Philadelphia. Come help us celebrate! Since her last open studio, Brooke has made a series of highly textured and detailed ceramic sculptures of ships that are tactile companions to her new paintings. This makes the work more accessible to people with visual disabilities, as well as creating a new way to engage with the art. There will be a door prize drawing at the end of the night for a 2-hour drawing or painting lesson, valued at $80.
Her latest paintings chronicle rarely-seen details of the SS United States, America's Flagship, which is at risk of being evicted from its berth in South Philadelphia. She also has new paintings of the rudder of the Tallship Gazela, as well as other scenes.
The space is accessible to visually impaired people and includes touchable ceramics. We're happy to describe the artwork and answer questions.
Regular business hours on Saturday begin at 11, but the snacks will come out at 4 to prevent Brooke from eating all of the cookies before the party starts.
RSVP to help her gauge how many cookies to bake!
Fabulous hats encouraged.
